About us

Ohana Childcare is a warm, welcoming and nurturing childminding setting located in Burringham, just a short distance from Scunthorpe. We offer both funded and non-funded places for children, providing them with high-quality early years education and a safe and comfortable environment to learn and grow in. Our dedicated and experienced team takes a hands-on approach to childcare, incorporating fun and educational activities, outings and nutritious meals into our daily routine. We understand the importance of building strong relationships with both children and their parents, and strive to maintain open and effective communication with families to ensure the best possible care for each child.

Ohana Childcare was designed as an ideology in 2019 and was founded in 2022 by Emma Crabb, a qualified early years educator and mother, who has over ten years of continuing professional developmental training and qualifications and hands on experience.

Emma always had a fond love for children and became a mother at the ripe age of sixteen years old where her interest in children's development and earning aspired and she only ever dreamt of working within the childcare sector. Emma worked hard completing qualifications, apprenticeships and courses when her own two children were in full time education. Emma went from strength to strength with her motherhood and childcare career in 2019 Emma and her children's father got married and Emma spoke of an ideology of her own dream setting one day, With the love and support of her family, friends and career network Emma completed two years of research into her dream and then in 2021 began the ball rolling in opening her own setting with a ethos centered around not just the children but their families also. 

In 2022 Emma became a fully registered childminder and was ready to open with the support and guidance of her regulating body @Homechildcare overseen by Ofsted themselves.  Emma then relocated to the rural village of Burringham to a larger premises giving the children more space to explore. Emma decided to open her own setting to provide a nurturing and educational environment for young children. With a passion for hands on learning and a strong belief in the importance of independence, self regulation and well-being with continuous parent connections, Emma has built Ohana Childcare into a highly regarded and sought after childcare option in the Burringham community. Ohana Childcare has expanded to offer both funded and non-funded places and all places are inclusive of nutritious light meals and snacks alongside exciting outings and animal interactions.
